About the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street Exhibitions

Museum on Mainstreet is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution’s Traveling Exhibition Service, in partnership with the Wyoming Humanities Council. Together we bring Smithsonian quality exhibits to Wyoming. Each exhibit is curated by experienced museum professionals and researched to reflect the nation’s unique identity.

Wyoming Humanities has brought several exhibits to Wyoming, most recently Crossroads: Change in Rural America in 2021-2022. We are looking forward to hosting Spark! Places of Innovation for the year 2024-2025.

Spark! Places of Innovation

Spark! takes visitors on a journey through time and place across America to discover the stories of people who lived, worked played, collaborated, adapted, took risks, solved problems, and sometimes failed—all in the pursuit of something new. The exhibition excels at showing the resilience of rural communities in the face of adversity and how innovation can pave the way for success and survival.

Spark! features the following themes: Social Innovation, Technological Innovation, Cultural Innovation, and Artistic Innovation.

Wyoming Humanities will have events and programs going on during the tour to reflect the themes of innovation throughout the state!
