Celebrating the Success of 2022

We at Wyoming Humanities can’t thank you enough for your continued support of the work we do for our state. Our mission is to strengthen Wyoming’s democracy by creating an environment of understanding, inspiration, creativity, wisdom, and idea-sharing. We’re proud of the work we did in 2022.

Understanding — With your support, we have been able to partner with the Wyoming’s We the People program to host statewide discussions deepening our understanding of U.S. Constitution. Our latest podcast, Winds of Change, provides perspectives on what it means to live in Wyoming.

Creativity — Because of you, we supported Wyoming’s creative sector and powerful storytelling traditions. We honored Wyoming books and authors at the Library of Congress’ National Book Festival. We funded the production of and screenings of nationally and internationally acclaimed documentaries with topics ranging from environmental topics to murdered and missing Indigenous women.

Inspiration — You helped us partner with the American Heritage Center to bring Gregory Hinton’s powerful theatrical event A Sissy in Wyoming to seven communities throughout Wyoming, paying tribute to the bravery and persistence of Wyoming icon Sissy Goodwin. We celebrated the inspiration of reading through our Wyoming student “Letters about Literature” contest, joined by hundreds of students.

Wisdom — Support like yours allowed us to tap into the wisdom of tribal elders and preserve languages and stories through initiatives like our Plains Indian Sign Language project. You helped us share the ideas and wisdom of historians, anthropologists, ecologists, linguists, playwrights, artists, policy makers, and theologians across the state and nation.

Idea-sharing — In the last fiscal year, we were able to provide more than $620,000 in grants to organizations that reached every county in Wyoming. The programs and topics were fantastically diverse.

None of this would be possible without support. As anon-profit organization, your generosity allows us the privilege to reach the voices and ears of audiences of all ages and backgrounds across Wyoming.
