Deputy Executive Director

The Deputy Director position is part of WYH leadership, including the board of directors, the director of operations (DO), and executive director (ED), and as such is vital to the realization of our vision and desired impacts described in the WYH Strategic Plan. This key position assumes leadership responsibilities for the ED in her absence and speaks on behalf of the organization as needed. The Deputy Director will be essential to a successful succession/transition plan for the ED.

Reporting to and collaborating closely with the ED, the Deputy Director has both internal and external facing responsibilities including program and project management, understanding and supporting our administration’s operations and technology architecture, and general leadership. The Deputy Director will partner closely with the ED and DO to chart WYH’s future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s services.

This position will require frequent statewide travel and attendance at occasional evening and weekend events. Participation as a team member in planning and performing other duties as assigned is a part of all WYH job descriptions.  The deputy director is a full-time, exempt position. See the press release.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-plus (minimum) distinguished years in a senior position in a nonprofit organization, foundation, or government agency
  • Advanced degree in a humanities or related field


The deputy director reports to the executive director.
