Thomas Moran and William Henry Jackson’s portrayals of Yellowstone through painting and photography helped shape the public’s perception of Yellowstone and impacted the decision to make the area the world’s first national park. Greg Nickerson will discuss the original artwork as well as Jackson’s recollections of the expedition, articles regarding Yellowstone and the original text of the Yellowstone Park Act.
Nickerson is a historian, writer and filmmaker from Big Horn. He writes for WyoFile.com and Wyohistory.org, and has produced history documentaries in Wyoming and Philadelphia. He has a master’s degree in history from the University of Wyoming.
